Allen's Gardens

Extreme heat, drought, and volatile weather are all part of the Texas climate. However, many people still find a way to keep a beautiful garden at the front of their house. Use of stones, native plants, and arch ways are all part of these gardens. Many of these people are part of the Collin County Master Gardeners. The Master Gardeners serve the community by volunteering their help. A lot of this help is oriented online where questions directed towards the Master Gardeners are answered. Workshops are also held by the Master Gardeners to help teach people how to garden better. To become a Master Gardener, one must apply and go through a 12 week course taught by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.  Once they are certified, Master Gardeners are required to serve at least 65 hours a year for their community.
