Texas Burr Plants

Beggar's Lice is the name of this burr plant. However, there are nearly 75 different species of Beggar's Lice, this being one of them. All of the species share the same seeds that stick to your clothes, shoes, and pets. While the plant is most definitely annoying, the sticking seeds are part of its survival and how it spreads. It is also considered a very ecologically valuable plant as it provides food for turkeys, deer, bees, caterpillars, moths, and a ton more insects and animals. It is also an important pollinator as it sees traffic from a lot of insects as well as humming birds. So despite the annoyance of the burrs on these plants, they are invaluable to the environment and have a right to be there.
