Real-life physics can be added to scenes to make them more like real life. This is pretty intuitive but can get complicated when working with stuff like soft bodies (squishy things) or fluids. Take for example this image of a FLIP Fluids simulation.

While these fluid simulations are really cool and look amazing, they are incredibly computer-intensive and can take a while to solve and render. After doing some research into physics simulations, I will be sticking to smoke and rigid body simulations for renders. Smoke can look really good and doesn't take too long to solve, and rigid bodies (hard objects) are incredibly easy to work with. With this knowledge, I went ahead and made a physics animation.
